  1. PICs not supported 2 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Sep 2014

"Could you please mention some of PIC chips that not supported now by ME PIC programmer,Best Regards."

Sure here is just a couple PIC16F1713,PI16F1708 several more from the 16F series released in the last two years lots of the PIC32MX250 and 32MX1xx series some of the 18fj series. Those are just from the top of my head.

I reccomend you go to their forum and view the update thread on MikroProg

That is just a small sampling of the PIC's not supported, if you browse the forum you will notice many more are not supported. Also take note on the update date 7 months ago now.

I consider that unacceptable for a programmer, to go now 7 months without an update and to have PIC's 2 years old still not supported is unacceptable.

Their pricey development boards only work with the onboard Mikroprog too, which means in order to use newer PIC's or even older unsupported PICs you will need a more upto date programer anyway.

  3. Not kept up to date 2 Star Review

Posted by on 9th Sep 2014

I recently purchased this product only to find it is not kept up to date.Their are PIC's that have been out now almost two years that still are not added to MikroProg.

So if you have one of ME's expensive development boards this means you can not use the newer PIC's. I say newer vs. new because we are talking almost 2 years sometimes older PIC's.

The last time this tool was updated was almost 7 months ago, this is unacceptable for a flash programer. Oddly enough their compiller supports PIC's that their programer doesn't? I guess ME wants you to purchase a PICKIT3.

The update rate for their 8b PIC compiller is also glacier slow, it took 14 months to get the last update.

I recomend you get the PICKIT3 cheaper and it's kept up to date.
